“Take Back Control of Your Recovery, Life & Being you Again.”
Musculoskeletal injury and pain can be tough when it affects how you feel, how you feel about yourself, and stops you doing the things that you love and are important.
Research shows that those who understand pain and take active control of their recovery hurt less.
We offer 1-2-1 and group workshop support to help you understand your injury and pain, and to ensure you take back the control needed for your best recovery.
To do this, we use the latest pain science and psychology.
Why Think Differently?
Much of what we think we know about injury, pain and recovery is incorrect and unhelpful. Instead:
- The brain has a key role in how well you heal and how you trigger, feel and cope with pain.
- Injury and pain have physical, psychological and social causes.
- Pain doesn’t mean tissue damage: Tissue damage doesn’t mean pain.
- The longer pain lasts, the more your brain will have learnt to feel it.
Why Take Control?
Research shows that:
- We can control our healing, pain and recovery more than we typically think.
- The human brain is far more powerful than any human-made drug, and has no side-effects.
- There are new evidence-based solutions, i.e., to think, feel and do the correct, helpful things.

Everyone’s experience of injury and pain is very unique. So I work hard to understand your injury and pain, and work with you to make sense of its causes and to find the solutions that will work best for you.
I have enjoyed working as a psychology lecturer, researcher and consultant for 25 years. I’m a British Psychological Society (BPS) Practitioner Psychologist (Sport & Exercise Psychology) with HCPC practitioner registration. My PhD was in behaviour change psychology.
My interest in injury psychology started early in my career whilst working with athletes (professional/international to recreational). I decided to pursue this as a focus within my support work after experiencing back pain and realising how injury had affected my own life, life path and activity choices.
I’m excited that the latest pain science gives a new and real opportunity to understand injury, pain and recovery, and to use psychology to make a real difference: I know how important it is for you to recover effectively.
